Here some tips and trick I learned over 5 years and 1000’s of rejected ads.
1. Follow Facebook’s Advertising Policies
Facebook has rules that you cannot break, and the reason being is because they want people to spend as much time on their platforms. Some things to watch out for:
- Prohibited content: This includes illegal products, adult content, and anything that promotes discrimination or hate.
-
- Restricted content: Some ads for products like alcohol, gambling, or healthcare services have special requirements, such as age restrictions or region-specific rules.
-
- Misleading claims: Ads cannot make exaggerated claims about products, services, or results. Always be honest about what you’re offering.
Tip: Familiarize yourself with Facebook’s Advertising Policies and regularly review them to stay updated.
The most common of them is the “misleading claim”.
What does it mean in reality?
- It’s when you set an unrealistic expectation for an outcome. For example telling a person that he will loose 30kg in 2 weeks is not possible.
- We have to use non sensitive language to avoid negative emotions. For example, instead of saying “shred fat” we should say “lose unwanted weight”.
- Avoid using numbers like: “Reach $10K/month income” and “Lose 30kg”.
2. Be Transparent with Your Ads
Facebook emphasizes transparency, so the goal is to set the right expectation. CPM’s will also go down because of it.
- Clear CTA (Call-to-Action): Your CTA should be easy to understand and lead to a genuine offer.
- Accurate Landing Pages: The landing page your ad leads to must match the message in your ad. If your ad promotes a sale, the landing page should feature that sale clearly.
Tip: Always double-check that your landing page, copy, and CTA align. If they don’t match, Facebook might flag your ad as misleading.
3. Respect User Privacy
Privacy is a big deal for Meta, especially in EU.
- Data Collection: If you’re collecting data from users (e.g., through lead forms), make sure your process complies with privacy laws like GDPR.
- Third-Party Data: When using custom or lookalike audiences, ensure that the data you’re using is collected properly and is in line with Facebook’s data use policies.
Tip: Avoid collecting sensitive data unless absolutely necessary, and always give users clear information about how their data will be used.
4. Avoid Common Pitfalls
There are a few common mistakes advertisers make that could lead to account suspensions:
- Violating copyright: Using copyrighted material without permission (like music, images, or logos) can get your ad rejected or your account penalized.
Use AI tools that can generate soundtracks to avoid unnecessary bans.
5. How To Deal With Rejected Ads?
If your ad got rejected then do this:
- Don’t ever delete them.
- Replace the rejected ad with very compliant ad by using existing post.
- Publish the new ad and once it passes the review, turn it off.
What to do if your account got restricted?
- The fastest way to get it unbanned is to contact Pro support if you have one.
- If you don’t then request review in the account overview account section.
- If you can’t request review then contact support by pressing the ? icon on the bottom left corner.
BONUS: Tools to Help Keep You Compliant
- Facebook’s Ad Review Tool: Use it to check if your ads meet Facebook’s standards before you launch them.
- AdEspresso: This tool helps you optimize your ad creative and targeting while ensuring compliance with Facebook’s policies.
- GDPR Compliance Plugins: If you’re running ads in Europe, tools like OneTrust can help you stay GDPR-compliant when collecting customer data.
